Hôtel Byakko Nice - Nice

The colourful streets in warm colours of yellow, ochre pink and red near the Cours Saleya market guide your steps towards the charming streets of the Old Town of Nice.  With its ideal location, the Hotel Byakko is a gateway towards all the treasure of "Nissa la Bella" (Nice the Beautiful).

The city of Nice is listed as part of World Heritage by UNESCO, and the French Riviera has all the ingredients you need for a sun-filled adventure, rich in sensations and encounters. The first sight welcoming you to Nice is obviously the wonderful Promenade des Anglais, reflecting the waters of the Bay of Angels. This is much more than just a nice place for a walk. It is one of the most famous avenues in the world and the best gateway for a stroll in the Old Town of Nice. This really is La Dolce Vita!

Nice Carnival

France's biggest carnival

The world's three biggest carnivals are the Rio Carnival, the Venice Carnival and, of course, the Nice Carnival. In February, France's biggest carnival attracts thousands of people for some action-packed festivities. The city comes to life in a sweet, costumed and euphoric atmosphere. Colours bloom on all the street corners. A vibrant tradition dating back to the 13th century and which keeps the city's heart beating all through the winter. The festive atmosphere never ceases on the Bay of Angels, far from it.

Leave the everyday world behind and see the wonderful carnival parades, filled with flowers, the work of passionate and enthusiastic local creators. You can count the twenty floats based on a different theme each year. Some are 20 metres high! The music, the colours, the accents... Your stay in Nice will immerse you in the popular celebrations leading up to the famous battle of the flowers. This is the carnival's other high point.

Before your eyes, the people of Nice throw each other thousands of locally grown flowers. You are all invited to see the magic spectacle!

As night falls, you can discover the nocturnal side of the carnival beneath a shower of confetti. As if in a waking dream, you will see the luminous parade floats carrying giant papier-mâché heads. A dream epitomising the city of Nice. After experiencing this memorable event, our hotel in the centre of Nice is the ideal place to relax. Worth noting: at the Hotel Byakko the festivities continue with staff dressed in costumes throughout the event.

Activities

Things to do in Nice

As the capital of the French Riviera, Nice has plenty of essential attractions, whether you are spending a weekend or a week at the Hotel Byakko. There is of course the Promenade des Anglais to welcome you and unveil the majestic sea of the Bay of Angels. On a Vélo Bleu electric bike, you will pass by luxury hotels and shops. You can try your hand at some water sports in one of the sailing clubs along the beach. The most daring visitors will try their hand at parasailing to see the city from a different angle. Not to mention the wakeboarding, jet-skiing and tow tubing clubs...

Back on dry land, you can first take a stroll along the shopping streets in the city centre. Don't miss Avenue Jean Médecin, close by our 3-star hotel, and the NICETOILE shopping centre. But the Carré d'Or and its opulent buildings are the perfect setting for the most refined shopping expeditions.

From there, you are well placed to explore the Old Town. In its narrow streets, the soul of authentic Nice is revealed with its red and yellow façades and alleyways where people still speak the local dialect. When you get to Place Rossetti, take a break at the Italian ice-cream maker's, Azzuro. The queues often seen here show it is a hit with food lovers. After enjoying your cone of “gelati” or your socca (a pancake made from chick-pea flour), head for the Nice Castle hill to savour the view and see the sun setting over the bay. Unforgettable.

Visiting the French Riviera

Your stay in Nice and on the Riviera

Then head back towards Nice, and you will see the coast leading to the Italian border: Villefranche-sur-Mer, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, reminiscent of an Italian palace, Èze, one of the most beautiful villages on the French Riviera, Le Cap d’Ail, Monaco, Menton, with its quasi-subtropical climate…

From Nice train station, a 7-minute walk from the hotel, you can get to Cannes in 33 minutes and Monaco in 20 minutes. The ideal way to avoid the traffic jams in summer.

From Bandol to the Italian border, the French Riviera is a dream destination for people all over the world. At the heart of majestic Mediterranean landscapes arise the names of some of the most famous seaside resorts: on one side Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Cannes, Saint-Tropez... Fans of the jet-set will round off their stay on the French Riviera with a drive through the port of Saint-Tropez. Along with the luxury yachts and the spirit of Brigitte Bardot, you will discover a seaside town where night life and easy living are combined on the legendary beaches.

If you prefer something quieter, then head for one of French Riviera's many picturesque destinations. Just after Grasse, the land of perfumes, you will arrive in Mougins. The village is just north of Le Cannet with its rich museum devoted to the painter Bonnard. Light and graceful, with stone houses, it will lead you up to a green hillside, at the heart of the Provençal countryside.
